Kohl’s: We only donated to Planned Parenthood because our employees volunteer there

We have written in the past about Kohl’s donating to Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties.

Thank you to the many people who have taken the time to write to Menomonee Falls, Wis-based Kohl’s in opposition to their Planned Parenthood donations.

Below is a response from Kohl’s to Pro-Life Wisconsin.

Dear Ms. Hamill:

Thank you for taking the time to contact Kohl’s directly.

We can confirm that Kohl’s does not have a corporate or local partnership with Planned Parenthood. However, a $500 grant may have been processed as part of our Associates in Action volunteer program in Santa Ana California. For this program, Kohl’s provides grants to nonprofits where our associates volunteer.  This grant is in recognition of their service, and not as a corporate endorsement of the specific organization.

We appreciate the time you have taken to share your perspective (and for allowing us an opportunity to address your members to clarify misinformation). We look forward to serving you and your members in the future.

Sincerely,
Vicki Shamion
Senior Vice President, Public & Community Relations

Kohl’s Department Stores

While Kohl’s employees are obviously free to volunteer where they wish, it is disconcerting to think of Kohl’s employees as deathscorts. If Kohl’s employees volunteered for the KKK, would the KKK receive a “grant,” using that hands-off logic?

And pro-lifers are the crazy ones?

Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota has a book club, comprised of “a really smart group of women and men from a variety of backgrounds.” They  discuss books liberals read, such as Gail Collins’ When Everything Changed: The Amazing Journey of American Women from 1960 to the Present.

Too bad their discussions won’t touch on comments made by fellow liberals in Madison, such as the suggestion that African Americans be sterilized because they are “immune to education.” The fact that such blatant racism still exists in 2010 is one of the many reasons FOR the billboard campaign.

“Black Babies Are In Danger”: Milwaukee billboards focus on racial disparity of Wisconsin’s abortions

Thirteen billboards placed throughout the city of Milwaukee, beginning today and running for a month, are highlighting the high numbers of black babies aborted every year.

Wisconsin is the eighth lowest state nationally in the number of abortions, but the racial disparity in its numbers far exceeds the national trends. In Wisconsin, 6.2% of the population is black, yet 24% of all state abortions are on African-Americans, which is four times the representation.

The billboards aim to raise awareness about abortion, Planned Parenthood’s history of racism and the continuing eugenics movement in Wisconsin. The campaign directs the public to TooManyAborted.com/WI and was created by Ryan Bomberger, an African-American who is the Chief Creative Officer of The Radiance Foundation.

“We are exposing the myth of the ‘unwanted’ child and the destruction of hope and possibility that abortion brings to the black community,” explained Bomberger. “There are better, life-affirming alternatives, especially adoption. In this day and age, with the most advanced technology, information access, and resources ever available in human history, abortion should never be the solution we resort to.”

This campaign is championed by national African-American civil rights leaders, including the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. Alveda King.

Two billboards are running. The first states “Black Children Are in Danger;” click here to view. The second states “Black and Beautiful;” click here to view. Both share the same message: Exponentially, black children are more endangered by death by abortion than any other demographic in America.

In 2010, Planned Parenthood celebrated 75 years of existence in Wisconsin. Those 75 years have been financed by taxpayer dollars and the brutal killing of innocent unborn children. Despite its massive failure to reduce pregnancy rates, unplanned pregnancies, and exponentially high STD rates, Planned Parenthood is rewarded with lavish amounts of government funding and unconditional support from a community most ravaged by its mission – to reduce ‘unwanted’ populations.

Thanksgiving, Planned Parenthood style

Planned Parenthood of New York City [PPNYC] posted advice for fellow pro-aborts heading off to family dinners for Thanksgiving.

Who knew the prospect of talking about abortion over turkey struck fear in pro-aborts?

While most families will have disagreements, and we are still living in a country where people have the freedom to express their disagreements, the inferences in PPNYC’s article were interesting.

Pro-lifers have long included abortion in the list of human rights violations occurring around the world. As the unborn child is a person just like the rest of us and deserving of the same rights, the killing of a person – born or unborn – should inspire the same reaction.

So it’s interesting when pro-aborts try to turn that reasoning back around. How would you finish PPNYC’s suggested “springboard” sentences, as a pro-abort?

“I believe every child should be wanted… so kill all the unwanted.”

“In the world I want to see, parents are… free to kill the unborn, especially if the child is disabled, female or likely to be poor.”

“In the world I want to see, abortion is… used to further eugenics in our society, to wipe out the disabled and the poor.”

Of course, there is the unspoken implication that pro-aborts are young professionals, heading home to their out-of-touch relatives for Thanksgiving. This, despite the research and polls showing Americans are more pro-life than ever.

Pro-lifers must be doing something right, if Planned Parenthood of New York City has to reassure and reeducate its members on how to effectively communicate!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We have truly been blessed this year in many ways, and we couldn’t have done it without you! Thanks to God and to all our pro-life supporters for the countless blessings of 2010:

- An open records request revealed the University of Wisconsin’s plans to use aborted baby parts for research.

- Pro-Life Wisconsin’s February 6 pro-life rally on UW-Madison’s Library Mall, in opposition to the proposed late-term abortion plans at the Madison Surgery Center, was attended by 600-800 people.

An open records request done by Pro-Life Wisconsin and the Alliance Defense Fund revealed the Department of Homeland Security’s investigation of Wisconsin pro-lifers.

- Our website, ProLifeWisconsin.org, received a makeover.

- More than 100 people attended our Good Friday prayer vigil at Affiliated Medical Services in Milwaukee.

- Wisconsin’s sex ed law received national attention. A recall effort of Juneau County DA Scott Southworth subsequently failed.

Due to grassroots pro-life activism, the Madison Surgery Center admitted it will not be performing late-term abortions.

- Pro-Life Wisconsin, Vigil for Life of Madison and the Servants of Our Lady of Guadalupe hosted a baby shower for a couple who, due to the efforts of sidewalk counselors, did not abort their baby. At least 75 people attended.

- Wisconsin’s Attorney General recommended an audit of the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, due to their medical students’ rotations at Planned Parenthood. State law prohibits taxpayer funding of elective abortions.

- University of Wisconsin abortionist Caryn Dutton fled the state for Harvard.

- Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin begged for donations in Pro-Life Wisconsin’s name.

- Pro-Life Wisconsin welcomed Steve Karlen as our development director.

- We also welcomed three new affiliates, increasing our presence in the state.

- Countless lives have been spared around Wisconsin as a result of 40 Days for Life.

- Newly elected pro-life majorities in the state Senate and state Assembly and a pro-life governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general will help build a culture of life in Wisconsin.

Happy Thanksgiving and may God bless your families!

NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin to observe National Adoption Awareness Month

November is National Adoption Awareness Month.

In observance of adoption awareness, NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin will be hosting a November 17 screening in Madison of the movie “Juno,” which features a 16-year-old girl who gave her baby up for adoption. The movie includes some interesting moments, such as when the pregnant teen decides to keep her baby and leaves the abortion facility; when the teen realizes she has a tiny person inside her and speaks to her growing stomach; and the depiction of pro-life picketers outside the abortion facility.

The movie is an interesting choice for NARAL (the acronym stands for National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League, by the way). Per their website, NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin believes “every woman has a right to make autonomous choices about contraception, abortion, pregnancy and childbearing.”

Also of interest is NARAL’s answer to the question of, “Human life begins at conception. Isn’t abortion therefore wrong?” NARAL states: “There is no single answer to the question of when life begins. NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin believes women and not politicans [sic] or the government should.”

Doctors and scientists have no say in the matter either, apparently.

While we are hopeful that NARAL is embracing the need for adoption as an abortion alternative, NARAL’s policy statements and editorials belie this hope.

A June 21 editorial by Lisa Subeck, NARAL’s executive director, advocated for fetal eugenics and secret abortions for 14-year-olds. Will NARAL’s screening of “Juno” be a pro-abort giggle fest or a frank discussion of adoption as an option to killing?

Planned Parenthood board member is a Dubuque, Iowa city employee

Government employees’ entanglement with Planned Parenthood shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Here in Wisconsin, we’ve certainly experienced our fair share of that, with the brutal back-and-forth volleying of the recent campaign season. Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, hosted fundraisers in Milwaukee and Madison for (defeated) gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett. Read more about that here.

Kansas late-term abortionist Leroy Carhart made national news this week when he announced plans to open three new abortion facilities in Indiana, Iowa and Maryland. Read a news story about that here.

As a result of Carhart’s grisly revelation, much press has been devoted to abortionists and by extension, Planned Parenthood. Carhart’s abortion practice is independent of Planned Parenthood. Unsurprisingly, the letters-to-the-editor from Planned Parenthood minions continue to pour into local newspapers in those areas.

Of particular interest is this letter-to-the-editor in the Dubuque, Iowa Telegraph Herald. Written by Ann Niday Straley, ostensibly in defense of Planned Parenthood’s work with teens, it is a tired regurgitation of the reasoning that since parents really don’t know how to parent these days, “we” need Planned Parenthood.

Straley fails to mention in her letter that she is a member of the board of directors for Planned Parenthood of East Central Iowa (PPECI). View PPECI’s 2008-09 annual report, with the listing of board members, here.

And here’s where things get really interesting. A Google search of Straley reveals she was paid a salary by the City of Dubuque, Iowa, in 2008 and in 2009. Dubuque’s 2008 list of salaried employees can be found here and its list of 2009 employees can be found here. Yet a search of Dubuque’s staff directory turns up no mention of anyone named Straley. So what gives? More hide-and-go-seek from Planned Parenthood?

Still good to be bad?

Apparently it’s still good to be bad… A person whose email address shall remain anonymous received the following password after registering for Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s emails:

This would be chuckle-worthy… if Planned Parenthood wasn’t in the business of killing babies, making a joke of parent-child relationships, denying the humanity of the preborn, and so on. But obviously those who are in charge of generating passwords at Planned Parenthood are amused by their badness.
