Pro-lifers, we need your help again! This summer, Kohl’s was put on a boycott list due to its support of Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties [PPOSBC]. After a massive outcry from pro-lifers, Kohl’s stated, in early January of this year, that no support of Planned Parenthood will occur from any level of the company.
Unfortunately, we have discovered another Wisconsin-based company financially supporting the abortion industry. And we need your help in contacting this company! As we saw with Kohl’s, companies do respond to their customers. And remember, pro-lifers are in the majority now:)
Copps Food Stores is a sponsor of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin’s annual Roe v. Wade “celebration.” Copps is owned by Milwaukee-based Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc.; Roundy’s “owns and operates more than 155 retail grocery stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois under the Pick ‘n Save®, Copps Food Center, Rainbow Foods, and Metro Market banners.”
There are plenty of grocery stores in Wisconsin for pro-lifers to shop at that do not support the killing of innocent children [see list below]. NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin, for the record, supports clandestine abortions for teenagers, aborting disabled babies, and laughably states that abortion is “much safer than childbirth.”
If you decide to stop shopping at Copps or any of the Roundy’s stores, LET THEM KNOW. Boycotts work when customers withhold their money, but companies have to be told why their customers are displeased. You can contact Copps through their online comment form here or you can call Copps Customer Service at 1-800-353-4357.
Message to send to Copps [please be civil but firm]:
It has been brought to my attention that Copps is a sponsor for NARAL Wisconsin in their annual Roe v. Wade celebration. Just in case you weren’t aware, NARAL is an acronym for National Abortion Rights Action League, founded by Dr. Bernard Nathanson, a once staunch abortion advocate who now dedicates his life to the pro-life cause. I take pride in shopping at a Wisconsin-based company, and I am saddened and disappointed by Copps’ decision to fund NARAL. As long as Copps continues to bankroll abortion, I will not be shopping at Copps.
If you feel comfortable sharing how much money, on average, you spend at Copps, do so. Money talks, especially when it will be spent elsewhere!
The following grocery stores (which can be found in Wisconsin, although not in all areas) do NOT support Planned Parenthood or NARAL, that we know of:
- Trader Joe’s
- Sendik’s
- Piggly Wiggly
- Sentry

i emailed them and i will not be shopping there! this is horrible!!
I’m curious why Festival Foods did not make my list. Anything I need to know about them? They were my go-to alternative to the Roundy’s chains. Let me know. Thanks!
We didn’t find anything bad about Festival Foods so you should be OK to shop there as well.
I am a member of a Catholic, very pro life mens group (heavily involved in the 40 days for life walks)and Festival is one of the sponsors for our annual conference.
I have to say that it’s pretty dishonest to say that pro-lifers are in the majority now. Just look what happens when it actually gets put to a vote, like in Colorado, where the pro-life position loses by a whopping 70-30 margin, or South Dakota, probably the most strongly pro-life state in the country, where the pro-life position still loses by a 55-45 margin.
Basically, across the country, 51% of people want some more restrictions on abortion. But most of them don’t want it to be banned entirely, and 49% support complete abortion on demand. This does not translate into “a majority of people are pro-lifers now.” This is like if I took a poll where 49% of women thought I was the ugliest man they ever saw, and the other 51% had varying opinions about my looks, and I spun it as, “A majority of women think I’m really good looking.”
Let’s not kid ourselves into thinking that a majority of people are pro-life; we still have a lot of work to do.
Ironic, isn’t it, that when Copps wants to look like it supports the local community, they put bags of food out that WE can buy for the food pantries, and then they take the profit we give them for out cart of groceries and sponsor NARAL? Wonder what would happen if they used that profit to fill the pantries instead? Well, hello Festival! Anyone know about Woodmans? You can save a lot of money at Woodmans!
Christine Kovac responded saying Roundy’s does not support pro-choice or pro-life organizations. How can we know for sure how they are supporting NARAL? I shop at Roundy’s every week and post their sales on my blog, so it is important to me to find out the truth about this.
Where does one find a list of “safe” stores to shop at (stores that don’t support abortion)? Aldi would be my next choice for shopping, if I can’t shop at Roundy’s.
Jessica: NARAL posted the list of supporting organizations on their website, here:http://www.prochoicewisconsin.org/roe2011.shtml. Copps is listed as a sponsor, and Copps is owned by Roundy’s. Let Copps or Roundy’s explain why they are listed. If they truly don’t support pro-choice or pro-life organizations, why did NARAL list Copps as a sponsoring organization?
