Why Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin wants our tax dollars…

Monday, April 11th, 2011

According to its 2009 tax documents, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin:
- PPWI CEO Teri Huyck made $248,819.
- PPWI VP of patient services Katharine Burnett made $158,570.
- PPWI spent $1 million on lobbying.

In 2009, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin:
- Performed 0 mammograms.
- Made 0 adoption referrals.
- Aborted 5,439 children.

Who knew “choice” was an euphemism for a bloated fat cat?

Wisconsin Catholic colleges linked to Planned Parenthood

Monday, April 11th, 2011

A Catholic university watchdog group has issued the results of an investigation detailing a staggering number of connections between abortion giant Planned Parenthood and Catholic universities in America.

The Cardinal Newman Society stated in its report [PDF]:
The types of relationships between Catholic colleges and universities and Planned Parenthood that this report uncovers are scandalous in that they publicly undermine the Church and her fundamental teachings on the sanctity of life.

The Catholic faithful have a right to expect that those institutions recognized as being Catholic by the Church will uphold Church teachings.

We pray that Catholic colleges and universities will once and for all end the 50 year move toward secularization and embrace their special missions as Catholic institutions, which Pope John Paul II reminded us comes from the heart of the Church—Ex corde Ecclesiae.

Wisconsin colleges on this list:

  • The Edgewood College Health Service offers a “sexual health” page that refers students to Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin for “confidential reproductive health and family planning services including pregnancy testing, contraceptive supplies.” The site also refers students to an “emergency contraception” hotline.
  • The Counseling Center at Marian University offers links to websites about “Sex” including the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and SmarterSex.org.
  • The website of Marquette University Law School includes a “Milwaukee Survival Guide,” which recommends “services” including Planned Parenthood and the National Organization for Women.
  • Alverno College congratulated a graduate student for accepting the position of Director of Education at Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.
  • Cardinal Stritch University helped develop leaders of Latino-serving nonprofit organizations to promote “social change” and improve “the quality of life to the community at large.” The program served a Planned Parenthood employee in 2005 and then two employees of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin in 2007.

In addition to the above, Marquette University has two professors on staff who are Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin board members.

Win a vasectomy from PETA: “One lucky man could be reproduction free!”

Friday, April 8th, 2011

Why should PETA neuter you?

Answer that question correctly, and you could win a free human vasectomy! One lucky man could be reproduction-free!

Who are people that write copy like this?

Clearly, people are the problem. Especially when you consider that “pets,” by virtue of their situation, depend on their owner for shelter, food, water and companionship.

Save the baby humans.

Milwaukee abortuary consent form: “Women may die…”

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Affiliated Medical Services, one of Wisconsin’s four abortuaries, the only late-term abortuary in the state and the only non-Planned Parenthood abortuary, has their consent forms available for download on their website. Makes it that much quicker to get women and cash in. Nefarious late-term abortionist Dennis Christiansen performs abortions at Affiliated.

The general consent form [PDF] states, twice, that some women may die as a result of an abortion, so please sign away your or your family’s right to sue:

And oops! Don’t forget to bring your cash. Affiliated has a handy calculator on their website, so you can estimate exactly how much an abortion costs.

As Abby Johnson discusses in her book Unplanned, and reiterated this week — Planned Parenthood and other abortuaries have a business model. Businesses need money to operate. Abortion is big money and the most lucrative part of their services. The movie Blood Money outlines clearly how abortion is a largely unregulated cash industry. Carol Everett, a former abortion chain owner, discussed how large amounts of cash are pocketed by abortion doctors and abortion facility owners. That trend apparently reaches all the way to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, as PPFA is missing millions of taxpayer dollars.

UW-Madison’s fetal research background

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Last week, pro-lifers grimaced at the news that three major companies – Pepsi, Kraft and Nestle – partnered with Senomyx, a San Diego-based firm that produces artificial flavor enhancers using aborted fetal cell lines to test their products. Two additional companies, Campbell Soup and Solae, cut ties with Senomyx after the news broke. OneNewsNow has more.

All of this brought to mind open records documents obtained by Pro-Life Wisconsin and Alliance Defense Fund from the University of Wisconsin Hospital.  The documents (from the 1990s!) detail research projects using aborted fetal tissue — brain tissue from aborted babies; mice reconstituted with fetal pancreas; and fetal pancreas transplanted into the bodies of diabetic humans. All markups on the documents are UW’s.

When the debate was raging about performing late-term abortions at the Madison Surgery Center, UW admitted the MSC would be a potential source for fetal body parts. UW insists no such research is currently ongoing, but really, who’s checking? Certainly not the Madison media.

Once we have lost our moral compass, there is no limit to what we will do.

Special Assembly elections tomorrow — Don’t forget to vote!

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Special primary elections will be held tomorrow April 5 for three vacant state Assembly seats left by Republicans joining the Walker Administration:  former Rep. Mike Huebsch of the 94th Assembly District left to serve as Secretary of the Department of Administration (DOA); former Rep. Mark Gottlieb of the 60th Assembly District left to serve as the Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOT); and former Rep. Scott Gunderson of the 83rd Assembly District left to serve as Executive Assistant of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The special general election for these three vacant seats will be held May 3rd. The Pro-Life Wisconsin Victory Fund political action committee (PAC) has proudly endorsed the following candidates in tomorrow’s special primary elections:

60th Assembly District (portions of Ozaukee and Washington counties):
•    Jake Curtis
•    Rik Kluessendorf
•    Paul Melotik
•    Tim Schwister
•    John Soper
•    Duey Stroebel
•    Gary Wickert

94th Assembly District (portions of Monroe and La Crosse counties):
•    John Lautz

The 83rd Assembly District (portions of Waukesha, Walworth, and Racine counties) does not have a Republican primary election. In the May 3 general election, lone Republican candidate Dave Craig will face the winner of tomorrow’s Democratic primary election. The PLW Victory Fund PAC has endorsed Dave Craig.

For those of you who live in the 60th and 94th Assembly Districts, tomorrow’s special primary elections are too important to miss. Plan to exercise your right to vote tomorrow, April 5, and encourage your family and friends to do the same. Vote for life, and may God bless Wisconsin!

40 hour perpetual prayer vigil in La Crosse

Friday, April 1st, 2011

From Friday, March 25 (Feast of the Annunciation) through Sunday, March 27, pro-lifers observed 40 hours of prayer in La Crosse, in conjunction with 40 Days for Life efforts occurring all over the world. Read more here.

Photo, above: Adoration in St. James.

On March 25, Fr. Scheckel led a Eucharistic Procession from St. James the Less Church in La Crosse, past Options Clinic and back to St. James. The staff and students of Providence Academy joined the procession. Among other issues, Options seeks to “normalize sexuality” [I doubt humans were sexually deviant for the thousands of years before Options existed...]

For 40 straight hours, from 3 pm Friday, March 25, through 7 am Sunday, March 27, simultaneous indoor and outdoor vigils were held – Adoration in St. James while the prayer vigil was taking place outside of Options. Concluded with Mass on Sunday March 27 at St. James.

Above, left: Fr. Scheckel leading the Eucharistic Procession. Above, right: A snapshot of the hundreds who turned out to pray.

Thank you to our priests for leading. Thank you to the La Crosse 40 Days for Life group for organizing. Thank you to the men for taking the nighttime hours.
